It has been quiet on the blog lately; we are all outside, spending time with family or visiting new places. It is always good to spend time away from the computer and TV screen, but that doesn’t mean you should stop taking notes about nature.

This Friday we will go looking for butterflies. Do you remember finding butterflies last year? It seemed like everywhere we walked we saw lots of butterflies. The notes and pictures we took last year help me compare this year to last year. Sometimes I see things that are so different it's good to have a record to really see what is different. Last year we met later in the month, and it was hot; not like the cool weather we have had this summer. Can the time of year and weather effect the number of butterflies we see at the Arboretum?

So let's be ready to take notes, draw pictures and take photographs of butterflies. I have two butterfly nets to share and a caterpillar pavilion in case we catch something we want to watch closer.
