January Nature Club

Today was a very fun Heed Nature Club! We all got bundled up and headed to the visitor center/office building. Then we went outside the building and looked at examples of tree bark and tree stumps. After that, we walked along and saw some dead trees. We all found sticks and Kay helped us trim them. Once we had all found sticks, we went to one of the ponds which was about 1 ft. frozen. We got to go onto the ice and ice skate!! It was so much fun! We also played some games on the ice such as throwing our sticks and seeing which one landed the furthest, ice skating races, looking at the air bubbles under the ice, and lots more! Then we saw a frog and a couple mice. We went down to another pond and skated by the cat-tails and saw 2 muskrat homes. After that we walked around some more and finished at the visitor center. It was great Heed Nature Club! Also, thanks Kay for letting us have this great opportunity!
