It was very interesting to look for butterflies on the same trail that we had walked 10 days earlier. Overall, I would guess that we saw 1/2 the butterflies that we had seen earlier. We saw very few painted ladies but we did see more Monarchs. We also saw more of the little butterflies, like Hairstreaks, Coopers and
Sootywings.

We also noticed that the purple and yellow coneflowers are starting to fade, but they are quickly being replaced by towering prairie grass seed heads.
It was a very warm day, so we stopped at one of by favorite stream wading spots to cool off.
We added a few new butterfly species to our list. (
