Pearl Crescent

Jami sent me some great photos of the butterflies we saw on the August walk. Sitting comfortably in my office I was better able to identify this butterfly as a pearl crescent. Crescents and Checkerspots belong to the brushfooted family of butterflies.

Emily's monarch hatched and was eating like mad. On Wednesday, he was hanging upside down thinking about a nap! We hope he wakes up in time to migrate! Did anyone go to PCC Monarch Tagging last Sat? We wanted to, but couldn't make it. We wondered if there were any monarchs flying on Saturday. We didn't see any butterflies in our garden that day, although we usually do since we have lots of plants they like. It was sooo humid, we wondered if that makes flying difficult for a butterfly?
