Nature Club - Conifers

Today in Nature Club we learned about conifers and how to tell which kind they are. God blessed us with beautiful weather - no wind, cloudless skies, and the sun was shining. Those who wore snow gear took some time for a snowball fight!
Anyway, here are the basics on how to tell what kind conifers are. If they have...
flat needles, they are firs. A way to remember this is that they both start with 'f'.
square-shaped needles, they are spruce trees. They both start with 's'.
scaly needles, they are cedars. Iowa has many cedars.
If the conifer's needles grow in clusters of two or more, it is a pine.
