Things have changed so much since our last walk. We have had a few frosts and you can really see the natural world preparing for winter. Many trees have lost all of their leaves or have completely changed color. Flowers have lost all of their petals and many of the seed heads are bare. I also see animal trails through the prairie grass where small animals have been looking here and there for warm places to hunker down for the winter.
Little animals need to find a place to live during the winter where they can adapt to winters cold temperature and have access to basic needs of survival. What are the basic needs of animals? What would you need to survive outdoors in winter? Let's go for a walk to look for the basic items we would need to survive through the winter. Then, let's see if we can make a warm nest for the winter.
